The Association is partnering with National Caravan Industry Training College (NCITC) to offer an in-depth, in-person Leadership Skills for New Supervisors workshop on 30 April 2024 at Rosehill.

Supervisors play a crucial role in your workforce. However, they are typically tasked with supervising employees immediately after being on the shop floor, often without having received adequate training on how to be an effective first-time supervisor.

Despite having more technical expertise than those they supervise, they may lack experience in leadership. As a result, they possess the ability to either enhance or hinder the productivity of the employees under their supervision.

To address this issue, NCITC has developed a one-day course that equips supervisors with the essential communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills needed for success.

With this toolbox of skills, supervisors will be better equipped to effectively lead and manage their teams, resulting in improved productivity and overall success for your organisation. They will learn:

  • New ways to prioritize, plan, and manage their time.
  • Their primary leadership style.
  • Flexibility to use other leadership styles.
  • How they can meet the needs of employees and co-workers through communication and coaching.
  • How to make conflict a powerful force for creative, well-rounded solutions to problems.

Topics include:

  • Pre-assignment review.
  • What’s their type? How about mine?
  • Introversion/extroversion.
  • Understanding leadership.
  • Managing their time and energy.
  • The commitment curve.
  • Employee development models.
  • Dealing with conflict and difficult issues.
  • What successful leaders do.
